SSDP Day School
Leeds University Union hosted an education and activist training day on 22nd March 2009, with various speakers, including Tom Lloyd, the ex-chief constable for Cambridgeshire who currently works for the International Drugs Policy Consortium (IDPC), David Culm, whose son died of heroin misuse and offered us a interesting perspective on heroin medicalisation, and Darryl Bickler from the Drug Equality Alliance, a coalition of lawyers who argue against current drug laws. The day was a success, with delegates from Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Salford attending.
Drugs and Queer Culture Seminar, University of Bradford.
On Monday 9th of February 2009, Sarah McCulloch, the SSDP LGBT rep went to the University of Bradford to facilitate a seminar on Drugs and the LGBTQ community. It was organised by the LGBTQ society at Bradford to celebrate LGBT History month.
2nd SSDP UK Northern Meeting
A group of SSDP activists met at the University of Manchesters Student Union on the 7th of February 2009 to discuss the set up of SSDP. Delegates from Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and Keele SSDP in attendance.
